What you need, in order
- Microchip recorded (ISO 11784/11785)
- Rabies vaccination valid (on/after the microchip)
- 21-day wait after a primary rabies vaccination
- Rabies vaccination at 12 weeks or older
- EU Animal Health Certificate (APHIS-endorsed)
- Non-commercial movement (5 animals or fewer)
- Owner or authorised person travels within 5 days
- Signed non-commercial declaration

The EU AHC's non-commercial certificate model changes on 2026-10-01 (Reg (EU) 2026/131's own transition, in effect since 2026-04-22). The current model is endorsable through 2026-09-30; the new model is mandatory from 2026-10-01.

Enter the EU within 10 days of endorsement
For a US departure the binding window is that you ENTER the EU within 10 days of APHIS endorsement. After entry, the certificate covers onward EU travel for six months from the entry checks, capped by the rabies vaccination's expiry.
