Owner checklist
-
Internal + external parasite treatment between 5 and 30 days before entry
A licensed vet administers internal + external antiparasitic treatment between 5 and 30 days before entry and attests it on the export certificate. Treating in the final 4 days is a hard fail — do NOT leave it to the last minute.
-
Certificate must be in Spanish AND English
APHIS states Chile's certificate must be in both Spanish and English, and an APHIS-endorsed paper copy must physically accompany the shipment.
-
Be ready for SAG inspection at the port of entry
Pets without required paperwork may be refused entry. Even compliant animals may be placed under official observation for at least 30 days at SAG's discretion. Carry both the originals and copies.
-
10-day home confinement after arrival Required
SAG's 2026-07-27 announcement requires the pet to be kept in home confinement for 10 days after arrival in Chile, in addition to any port-of-entry observation period SAG may separately require.
Still decided outside Petra
- The Chile Certificado Zoosanitario is completed and APHIS-endorsed outside Petra (Phase 2); Petra records that it was accepted, not that Petra issued it.
