Certificado Veterinário Internacional (CVI, APHIS-endorsed)
The Certificado Veterinário Internacional (CVI) is completed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and endorsed by APHIS — not a generic Form 7001. It is valid for 60 days from the day the vet signs it, and must still be valid on arrival in Brazil.

Owner checklist
-
Internal + external parasite treatment within 15 days of CVI issue
A licensed vet administers internal + external antiparasitic treatment within 15 days before the CVI is issued and records it on the certificate. Certification Statement 2 (docs/verification-packages/brazil-primary-2026-09/): "submitted within fifteen (15) days prior to the date of issue of the health certificate to a broad-spectrum treatment against internal and external parasites."
-
Verify all paperwork BEFORE boarding
Pets arriving in Brazil without the required documents can be re-exported, quarantined, or in rare cases euthanised.
-
Under 90 days old: unvaccinated entry requires the certificate's age/no-urban-rabies attestation Required
Certification Statement 1B (docs/verification-packages/brazil-primary-2026-09/): a pet under 90 days old at certificate issuance may enter without a rabies vaccination if the certifying vet attests it was NOT vaccinated against rabies AND has not been on any property with a reported case of urban rabies in the last 90 days. Confirm your vet includes this attestation on the CVI, then tick this off. (This item only appears for under-90-day pets; Petra checks age at ARRIVAL, which may occasionally be stricter than the certificate's own issuance-date condition for a pet that ages past 90 while a valid certificate is still in its 60-day window — contact support if this affects you.)
Applies up to 89 days old
Still decided outside Petra
- The Certificado Veterinário Internacional (CVI) is completed and APHIS-endorsed outside Petra (Phase 2); Petra records that it was accepted, not that Petra issued it.
- This qualified claim covers ONLY personal travel departing the United States. A different origin's export document is not modeled by this ruleset and stays at the guidance floor.
